pastel workshop number four
Through the Central Coast Art Society - Todays class was teaching everybody how to create a bucking horse. This was a challenge, however, I feel they all made the horse their own. Sponges, pan pastels and pastel pencils, working in unisen to create magic.

pastel workshop number three
Through the Central Coast Art Society - Todays class was teaching everybody how to create an Australian native bird, known as the New Holland Honeyeater. This was to combine techniques of creating backgrounds with sponges, blocks and pan pastels, plus bringing the bird to the forground and to life, with creating shadows, mid tones, highlights and feather softening. This was not an easy taks and they all did so well. Have a look at their pieces, they are all wonderful.

pastel workshop number two
Through the Central Coast Art Society - Todays class was teaching everybody how to create an abstract butterfly. This was to learn how to loosen up and show the movement in each piece made. They blew me away with what they created. I also added another surprise. After loosening up their techniques, I then had them create a close up of a horses eye. I will let their creations speak for themselves. All I can say is, "WELL DONE" one and all. They are all masterpieces. YOU ALL NAILED IT!

pastel workshop number one
Through the Central Coast Art Society - I recently, had the pleasure of teaching some lovely ladies some new techniques used in the creation of pastel artworks. My first class ever and the subject was a tulip flower. Some might think this is an easy task but often what looks simplest can be quite a challenge. Here are the fabulous efforts of what was created on the day. I have photographed each piece and retouched them into a frame, to show what can be achieved. Well done ladies!

the process of creating action in water...
Right now, I am working on a piece that involves alot of detail. Water is a new bridge I am crossing in my drawings & when I came across an inspiring photo, I decided to give it a go. I am using my favorite medium, which is charcoal & pastels. I am hoping being familiar with my medium will help in the process. Alot of artists layer according to colours, maybe dark to light or the opposite. I have decided to proceed using perspective and depth. The horse is the furthest away, therefore I begin with her. This is still a Work In Progress, so let's see what this becomes. Wish me luck :)
