Meet Central Coast Artist, Ann-Maree Morgan
As a Central Coast artist, I’m inspired by the stunning scenery I’m lucky to have access to every day. There’s something about the fresh air, the beach and the bush that is so nourishing for the body and soul, and though I was a Sydney resident, I’m not fussed about leaving the fast-paced city life behind for a more relaxed setting. As you can see, this has done wonders to get the creative juices flowing. I love the interplay between water and animals whether it’s the ocean, a river or softly falling rain, it has an almost magical effect on the scene I’m portraying.
Another favourite subject area for me as a Central Coast artist is the intricacies of the human body. I could go on all day about how amazing – and difficult! the human body is to sketch. There are so many fine details to include and that’s before you even consider things like lighting and proportion. It takes a lifetime of mastery to skilfully draw the human body and I have to say, I really enjoy the practice of it too. Each curve and ripple is so incredibly beautiful and it shows so much about the character and personality of the subject.
I will always be grateful that I’m able to live and work in a place where I’m able to draw inspiration from every day. I’m proud to be a Central Coast artist and can safely say I’ve found my spiritual home amongst the birds and the gum trees.
